The city of Auckland is overflowing with lively festivals and seasonal fiestas, with a number of particularly popular events throughout the year, including parades, tennis championships, jazz concerts and fashion shows.

Popular festivals in Auckland include the following events.

Annual Auckland Festivals

• January: Auckland Anniversary Regatta, a particularly popular event attracting around 1,000 boats in all shapes and sizes, congregating around the main harbour event
• January: Heineken Open Tennis Championships, notable men's tennis tournament
• January: Big Day Out, the largest music festival in the city, taking place each year at the Ericsson Stadium
• February: Hero Festival, lasting around two weeks, featuring a range of gay pride events and parades
• March: St. Patrick's Festival, featuring parades and celebrations around March 17th
• March: Pasifika Festiva, a notable cultural event that takes place at the city's Western Springs Stadium towards the end of the month
• April: Waiheke Jazz Festival, lasting five days and attracting a range of notable jazz musicians to the city
• July: Auckland International Film Festival, with a range of screenings and related events, held at central cinemas
• October: New Zealand Fashion Week, lasting four days and featuring many of the latest styles by local designers
• November: Auckland Marathon, regularly attracting more than 9,000 runners, watched by large crowds, which line the route
